Recipes

Recipe 1 : Dalgona Coffee (Korean Whipped Coffee)

Dalgona (달고나), also known as Ppopgi (뽑기) is a nostalgic sweet street candy from South Korea. The name ‘Dalgona’ originates from the term ‘Dalgoona (달구나)’ which means ‘sweet’ in Korean and was named after how the candy was sweeter than the sugar. This popular street snack is essentially a type of honeycomb toffee made out of sugar and baking soda. During the 1960s, Korea was recovering from its civil war and many kids enjoyed this cheap snack instead of chocolates or ice creams that they could not afford.

The Dalgona mixture is poured into a flat surface, flattened by a stamp, and is then marked by a patterned mold. This pattenerend mold gives unique shapes including triangle, circle, star, heart, umbrella and much more. Children challenge themselves by carefully cutting out the candy around its pre-marked shape without breaking the whole thing.

After Dalgona appeared in an episode of Squid Game, a Netflix Series, many people tried making it at home and came up with a variety of recipes using it. This viral sensation has been sparkling joy and inspiring creativity amongst both home baristas and professional mixologists. Let’s discover the secrets to crafting the perfect Dalgona Coffee. It is time for you to grab and wield your whisk for our little frothy, caffeinated journey together! Your Dalgona Coffee is gonna be great :)
